The Lazy A Ranch is a premier white tail deer hunting facility located in the South Texas famous "red sand" country. We operate exclusively as a hunting ranch and cover 4,000 acres of native South Texas brush. Thirteen years of strict whitetail management has ensured a top-notch whitetail herd with pure Texas genetics.

Our buck to doe ratio is even and our buck age structure is correct to produce a quality hunt. At the Lazy A Ranch, the quality of the hunting experience is of the utmost importance. Those who have hunted the Lazy A know the hunt experience itself is always among the best in south Texas. The ranch is 2/3 high fence, 1/3 low, making for a managed herd, but a truly wild deer herd as well. No canned hunts here. We hunt out of eleven two-person stands with feeders, offering a safe and comfortable hunt, where you'll see lots of bucks.

The deer herd at the Lazy A Ranch is at an optimum level of maturity, sex ratio, and carrying capacity for our range conditions. We don't get carried away with a feeding program. Instead, we let "mother nature" do her thing, with a little help from us humans along the way. You'll see several mature whitetail bucks on any given hunt. During the rut, generally December 15-30, you'll have a chance to see the old monarchs of the brush that are mostly nocturnal, except for this very special time. Horn rattling is very effective this time of year as well.
